House of Jump

On Wednesday, I piled the boys into the car and headed to see Aunt Kristin. In her town, they have a place with a variety of inflatables. Since both the boys love to climb, I thought it sounded like a fun day trip. Although Landon had fun crawling around, Bennett had a blast!! I was amazed at how fearless he was. He was climbing all the ladders and going down every slide--no matter how big. With some help, he climbed the rock wall. We had so much fun hanging out with Auntie Kristin and we had a blast playing and jumping!

Landon Turns 1!!!

Sunday was a momentous day ~ our baby turned one year old! I can't believe that just one year ago I was starting labor at school, headed in to the hospital at night, and within just a few short hours, our baby boy was born very healthy! It really feels like it was just a few weeks ago, and here we are, one year later. Landon certainly started out more spunky than Bennett, but he was a very quiet and mellow baby. In the last several months, though, with his red hair showing, a temper has emerged! He wants what he wants now and if he doesn't get it, watch out! He has some spunk but then he'll smile and completely melt your heart! He gives the best hugs and is very much a mommy's boy. I love when he comes and crawls up in my lap (granted, it usually only lasts about 5 seconds, but I'll take what I can get!). He is a mover and a climber. One day, Bennett came to me in the bathroom while I was getting ready for work and told me, "Landon's on the table." I looked at him and said, "Oh, you mean he's UNDER the table?" Landon LOVES to crawl under any furniture he can find. Bennett replied, "Yep." So, I let it go for just a moment then decided I better check. Sure enough, my oldest was right--there was Landon, sitting right up on the top of the coffee table! And boy, can he climb stairs already! He doesn't say much (which is so strange since Bennett never stops chattering!!!) but he is very expressive with his face and is really starting to use more noises to share what's on his mind. I love to watch the two boys interact. Well, Bennett sometimes tackles brother and sometimes Landon fights back. But it just warms your heart when Bennett goes over and gives him a hug or the two of them are jibber-jabbering back and forth in their own language--or when we catch them playing peek-a-boo when they should be napping. Landon has truly brought a new light and joy to our family and we couldn't be happier that you're here. We love you, Landon, and wish you a happy first birthday!

Book Club

In my non-working time these days, I've been doing some reading. Ryan's sister, Kelly, passed me an awesome book! It's called The Noticer by Andy Andrews. It's about a man who feels like his life couldn't get any worse--he was homeless and living under a pier. And then he meets a man named Jones who simply shares a new perspective on the situation. My favorite part was learning and understanding about the soon-to-be divorced couple. Jones describes the love has various dialects. This was a quick, but great read! I'm still trying to decide if it's a true story or not, as the author refers to himself by name and mentions his wife and kids.

Ryan just ordered me a new book that I started tonight. It's called Three Feet From Gold and it's about how to overcome obstacles to find success--how fitting! I got to page 26 tonight and am really enjoying it so far. One of the things I've learned so far is that success depends on the books you've read and the people you hang out with. I think I hang out with a great crew of people and I'm making progress with the books I'm reading!

If you are reading anything you really enjoy, send along the title and share!
